FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Answers to the questions workers and farms ask most. Don't see yours? Contact us or call (859) 407-4888.

Is this really free?

Yes. Every program — health-coverage help, safety training, and life-safety equipment — is provided at no cost to the farm or the worker. Signature Ag Workers is a charity funded by grants and donations. We do not sell insurance or any product, and we earn nothing from the coverage or services we help workers obtain.

Who qualifies for help?

Migrant, seasonal, and H-2A/H-2B agricultural workers and their families, and the small family farms that employ them. You do not need to be a U.S. citizen to ask for help getting health coverage, and asking costs nothing.

What health coverage can workers get?

Most farm-worker households qualify for low-cost or $0-premium plans through the ACA Marketplace because of income rules, plus access to free community health clinics. We explain your options plainly, in English or Spanish, and complete the enrollment with you.

What's in the Healthy Farm Starter Kit?

Life-safety equipment for worker housing and worksites: first-aid cabinets, smoke and carbon-monoxide detectors, fire extinguishers, heat-illness response kits, bilingual safety posters, eye-wash bottles, gloves, and reflective vests — delivered free and documented with a signed acknowledgment.

How do farms request services?

Use our Request Farm Services form or call (859) 407-4888. A team member follows up to arrange the equipment, training, or enrollment you need. There is no cost and no obligation.

Does the Foundation give cash to farms?

No. The Foundation never makes cash payments to a farm. Vendor-paid programs are paid directly to qualified vendors the farmer chooses, and equipment is delivered in kind. The Foundation never pays farm payroll, taxes, insurance premiums, or capital improvements.

Where does Signature Ag Workers operate?

Kentucky (statewide), Northern Tennessee, and North Carolina (statewide), with health-coverage help available more broadly. We focus on the small-farm regions with the heaviest seasonal and H-2A labor.

How is the Foundation funded and governed?

We are an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) public charity (EIN 42-2605524) funded by grants and donations, governed by a volunteer board that includes an independent director, and operated under written bylaws and a conflict-of-interest policy.
